New Vampire Weekend + More

October 6, 2009

Once again, my blog is in great abeyance.  Apologies to both of my loyal readers.

A few bits and bytes:

Vampire Weekend posted a new song, “Horchata,” from their forthcoming album ContraClick here to listen.

The best sentence from today’s Times, in a story about a bomb scare (which turned out to be a hoax) yesterday on the University of South Florida campus:

About 3:30 p.m., the police also reported a man on campus wearing a black tank top and a cowboy hat, carrying a black puppy and a large hunting knife.

Finally, my friends Josh and Tricia got married at the Music Hall of Williamsburg (nee Northsix) on Sunday night.  It was a great wedding, in a great space, with great music.  Tricia walked down the aisle to a Sigur Ros song—not sure which, but possibly “Staralfur.”—Josh grinned as big and for as long as I’ve ever seen anyone grin after he smashed the glass (it was a Jewish wedding), and the recessional (is that the word?) song was “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” by Guns ‘n’ Roses.  Here’s a pic from outside of the Music Hall, which as you can see put their names up on the marquee, a particularly nice touch, I thought.  (That’s Josh coming out of the front door, and Tricia off to the right.  Josh was the first person I ever met in New York, more than eight years ago.)

Congratulations, guys!  I wish you all the very best.

Dude. I haven’t told you yet, but I totally dig your Times Best Sentences. Can’t wait to see you this weekend.

    Recessional is the correct word.
