W.H. Moves to “Marginalize” Its Critics

October 21, 2009

Politico has a story today about how the White House is attempting to “marginalize” its critics, including media bigs like Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. The administration has in recent days gone so far as to declare Fox News “not a legitimate news operation.” And, as Politico notes, “Press secretary Robert Gibbs has mocked Limbaugh from the White House press room podium.”

My question is this: Why should Gibbs not be allowed to mock Limbaugh, or attempt to “de-legitimize” Fox News?  Remember that Limbaugh has said on-air that he “hope[s] Obama fails” and that, during the campaign last year, a Fox News anchor mused whether the Obamas’ much-publicized “fist bump” was, among other things, possibly “a terrorist fist jab.”  And more recently, Fox’s raving Glenn Beck said that progressives used to be called “tyrants” and “slave owners.”  That doesn’t even make any sense.
